2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
As we enter into this new year, we all began to think of “new” things we want to do this year. We normally make some type of new year’s resolution. Typically, people write out all the new goals they want to accomplish in 2017.
Sister, Have you considered new life in Christ for your new year?
Jesus died so you could leave that old life in 2016. He died so that you can receive new life in 2017 and live for Him.
Sister, you can make all the new year’s goals and plans that you could think of but without Jesus in your life, none of those plans and goals matter. The resolution that you should make this year is Galatians 6:15b What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.
Becoming New Creations in Christ.
God’s word tells us the old life is gone. You new can began in Him today. Leave all your past pain, regrets, and mistakes in 2016. Seek the resolutions that matter. Maybe, become a better person is your new year’s resolution. You can become a new person only in Christ, giving up your old ways of life. This means no longer living for yourselves but living for Christ. Sister, you can do that by having a personal relationship with Him.
Make Jesus Your #1 Resolution this new year.
Luke 2:7 She gave birth to her firstborn son.
- Jesus was born via a human birth. He is the Messiah and Savior. Luke 2:11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!
- The shepherds were given a sign in a manager by the angels. The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:10 MSG
- Jesus is available to anyone who accepts him. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31
- We were given a sign at the cross. He is the Savior of the world. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30
Jesus came as that baby in the manager. He grew up and has told us which way to walk. Jesus was sinless, yet took your sins that you may live. He finished the payoff on your debt bill, that runs over the limit daily. Jesus came, died, and rose up again that you may live an abundant life.
- Jesus is coming back to get those who belong to Him. “And then at last the signal of my coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning all around the earth. And the nations of the world will see me arrive in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30
Sister, we have been given all the signs. We just need to obey and make the choice. He came to save the first time. The next time, it will be for Judgement for those who have rejected Him. He wants no one to perish. Jesus is patient. He is coming unexpectedly. You have a timely choice Sister, choose Him now.
2 Peter 3: 8-10
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment
The Chew :
How will you be found when Jesus arrives the second time?
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”. Luke 1:28 NIV
Mary was favored by God. The Lord was with her. Sister, the Lord wants to find you favorable as well.
2 Chronicles 16:9 The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
He wants us fully committed to him.
Mary was confused and disturbed, trying to figure out what was going on, after the angel shares to her. It’s not like Gabriel texted her and said “Mary, I’m on the way, be ready”
Gabriel explains to her that she will conceive and have Jesus, who will be the Son of God, and He would reign forever.
Sister, Is there any areas in your life that you are confused or disturbed about what God is doing? Trust Him. He is leading you to something great that will glorify Him.
Mary asked a question and didn’t doubt. She wanted the details.
Gabriel explains that the Holy Spirit will be over her and she birth, a holy child. Gabriel gives her some security. He tells her, Elizabeth is old, but she is pregnant.
Don’t doubt what God can do with your life. In verse 37, The word of God will never fail.
Mary was responsive. She accepts that she is the Lord’s servant, and states “let all what you said come true.”
Sister, Do you see yourself as the Lord’s servant? Are you accepting His plans for your life? Tell Him today Let all you have planned for me become true. Have your way Lord !
Accept what God has planned for you.
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).
The Lord told King Ahaz to ask him for a sign. You may not necessary need a sign, but He wants us to communicate with Him.
Sister, what do you need to ask or tell Him today?
The King was hesitate. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from communicating with God.
Jesus is God with us. God gave us a sign that He would never leave us. Jesus is that sign. Satan will try to combat this truth and go to war with you, Sister.
Isaiah 8:10 MSG
Plan and plot all you want—nothing will come of it. All your talk is mere talk, empty words, Because when all is said and done, the last word is Immanuel—God-With-Us.
Satan’s schemes and strategies will come to nothing in your life. You have have to hold on to Immanuel. When Satan tries, here is a verse to hold onto:
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us,who can be against us?
Sister, This Christmas, remind yourself, because of Jesus birth, you have Immanuel (God with us) with you all the time.
Psalm 118:6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can people do to me?
Immanuel come to be with you forever.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jesus was born to us. He was given to us. The whole world would be on His shoulders.
When I think of Counselor, I think of someone who will sit with you and work through the issues you are currently dealing or have dealt with in your past. They would provide some helpful insight to help you handle the situation.
Webster 1828 defines Counselor–. Any person who gives advice; but properly one who is authorized by natural relationship, or by birth, office or profession, to advise another in regard to his future conduct and measures
Jesus is a person who gives advice. He was properly authorized by God through His birth to advise you sister in regard to your future.
Proverbs 11:14 MSG
Without good direction, people lose their way; the more wise counsel you follow, the better your chances.
Sister, we needed Jesus to be born, to be the Counselor of our life. The closer you follow Him, the wiser you will become.
Jesus was born and given to you. He carries all the weight of your sin on His shoulders. He wants you to seek him for wise counsel. Sister, will you come and sit with the Counselor today? Tell him all your troubles. He will listen and he will give you proper direction. He will advise you on this life’s journey.
Sit and Receive Wise Counsel from the Wonderful Counselor.
And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:27-28 (NLT)
In the old testament, there was animal sacrifice to cleanse sin. However, when Christ offered himself to God, he would cleanse us once and for all. Christ died to us free and we don’t have to bring a sacrifice. We just to bring ourselves. The Scriptures states in Romans 12:1 present your body as holy, and pleasing sacrifice. (paraphrase)
In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22
In the old system, without purification and shedding of blood; there was no forgiveness.
There would have to be an animal sacrifice year and year. Jesus appeared to God on our behalf, He died once and for all to remove through his death.
Each person is destined to die and then we will receive our final judgement. Our bite states the He died once and for all to take away the sins of many people. He is coming again soon, not to deal with sin; but to bring salvation to those waiting for Him.
1 Peter 1:17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.”
God has no favorites and he is going to judge or reward your life according to what you do. Live in fear of Him during this temporary time.
Philippians 3:20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
1 Peter 2:24
He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed.
We need blood to live. It has to pump throughout the body to stay alive. Sister, we also needed the blood of Jesus to spill that we might live. His blood is necessary for your life. He did it once and for all your sins. His blood represents life. You need His blood to live. Have you realized the blood was spilled to cleanse your life? Your life is not your own. You have been bought with a very high price. He did it so you can be healed, to do what is right. He doesn’t have any favorites. Everyone will be judged. Live right in the temporary home. Our eternal residence is in Heaven where He lives. Are you eager waiting?
If you never received Christ by faith, today you can be cleansed with the blood that you may truly live Sister. He did it for you. He wants you to live and be healed of your past and look forward to spending eternity in Heaven.
Lord, I have failed you and my sin has separated me from you. Please forgive me. I need a Savior, you sent Jesus to spill his blood to cleanse me once and for all. Would you come into my life today that I may live, and have eternal life. Direct my life today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established. Proverb 16:3 NKJV
The Lord knows people’s thoughts; he knows they are worthless! Psalm 94:11
Established in this verse means be secure, stable, set up, directed and ready.
Our commitment is trusting in the Lord to help secure our plans through him. He knows our thoughts. He knows that they are worthless. When we have committed everything we do to Him, then he call direct the plan.
So ladies, have you committed your work (career, motherhood, etc.) to the Lord?
Our worthless thoughts will never be established apart from our commitment to the Lord.
Establish your thoughts through commitment to the Lord.
Wise Women in the Bible: Abigail 1 Samuel 25
- She was married to Nabal, a mean drunk. Abigail took her vows seriously. She didn’t leave her husband. (verse 3)
- She was sensible and beautiful. (verse 3)
Nabal had made trouble with David because he didn’t want to share. (verse 10/11) He was selfish. His selfishness angered David. Therefore, David wanted to kill Nabal and his people.
- She was punctual– she wasted no time. (verse 18)
- She was prepared– she packed food and took it to David herself, pleading for her crazy man’s life.
- She humbles herself and accepted the blame.
- She saved- David from killing people and he was grateful to her because he didn’t take matters in his own hands. Also, saved Nabal’s life.
- She was rewarded – After she did all this, she returns home to a drunk husband. She didn’t tell him what she had done for him until he was sober. (verse 37) He has stroke after he hears what happen and the Lord struck him dead 10 days later. I believe the lord rewarded her for her loyalty and removed Nabal from the picture.
Abigail looked beyond her situation. She looked at God. Look at God in your situation. Ask Him how can I serve you right where I am?
Sister, Let’s be like Abigail: Be a sensible women. Committed to your husbands no matter the circumstance. Take your vows seriously. Humble yourself before God. Be prepared at all times to fight the enemy for your family. Pray and plead for your man to be who God call him to be.
The Lord will reward your obedience and loyalty to Him, no matter what your situation you are in.
Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.
Those who are happy :
- Hear the joy call to worship.
- Know how to praise.
- Learned to acclaim.
- Trained their ear to hear.
As a result they will walk in the light of the Lord’s presence.
The Lord calls us to worship.
Psalm 100:1 Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth!
There is light in His presence.
Acts 2:28 You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.
9 “When you arrive in your own land and go to war against your enemies who attack you, sound the alarm with the trumpets. Then the Lord your God will remember you and rescue you from your enemies. 10 Blow the trumpets in times of gladness, too, sounding them at your annual festivals and at the beginning of each month. And blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and peace offerings. The trumpets will remind your God of his covenant with you. I am the Lord your God.”
Praise during the enemy attacks.
When Satan try to start some mess and attack you, sound the alarm. Start praising and worship the Lord. The Lord will Rescue you from your enemies.
Praise Him during the times of gladness.
When things are going well. Praise Him. Blow your trumpet. When He hears your worship and your praise, He is reminded of His covenant. Sister, He is the Lord your God.
Sister, Do you consider yourself Happy and Blessed? Are you listening to the call to worship Him? Have you experienced the joy on being in His presence? When the enemy attacks you, do you sound the alarm? Blow your trumpet. Bye Satan you have got to go, because the Lord is my rescuer and He remembers me. Do you praise in times of gladness? Shout to Him. Remind Him that you are thankful for all things in your life. Because He is the Lord your God.
Blow your Trumpet. Worship the Lord your God.
39 And He got up and [sternly] rebuked the wind and said to the sea,“Hush, be still (muzzled)!” And the wind died down [as if it had grown weary] and there was [at once] a great calm [a perfect peacefulness].40 Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith and confidence [in Me]?”
Jesus and his disciples were in the boat to cross the lake, this fierce storm comes up filling the boat with water. Meanwhile, Jesus is knocked out sleep with head on a cushion. His disciples wake him up shouting, “Don’t you care that we about to drown”?
Our bite then states:
Jesus woke up. He rebuked the wind. SHUT IT down! with his voice. Silence! Be still! The Amplified Translation states Hush!
The winds obeyed his voice and was calm. (perfect peacefulness)
Jesus asked his Disciples: Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?
They didn’t even realize, they were with the Captain of the Sea, the Storm Calmer himself.
Ladies, Is there a storm in your life that you need Jesus to come and tell Hush! And Shut it Down?
How are you responding to the storm that come into your life? Are you screaming at Jesus to save you? Have you failed to realize He has already done just that for you?
He is waiting to see what kind of faith you have! Will he have to ask the question? Do you still have NO Faith?
There is no fear of the storms in our life, when we can call on the Calmer of the Storm.
