    Jesus the Wonderful Counselor

    The Bite

    Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
    And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus was born to us. He was given to us. The whole world would be on His shoulders.

When I think of Counselor, I think of someone who will sit with you and work through the issues you are currently dealing or have dealt with in your past.  They would provide some helpful insight to help you handle the situation.

Webster 1828 defines Counselor. Any person who gives advice; but properly one who is authorized by natural relationship, or by birth, office or profession, to advise another in regard to his future conduct and measures

Jesus is a person who gives advice. He was properly authorized by God through His birth to advise you sister in regard to your future.

    Proverbs 11:14 MSG

Without good direction, people lose their way; the more wise counsel you follow, the better your chances.

Sister, we needed Jesus to be born, to be the Counselor of our life. The closer you follow Him, the wiser you will become.

    The Digest:

Jesus was born and given to you. He carries all the weight of your sin on His shoulders. He wants you to seek him for wise counsel. Sister, will you come and sit with the Counselor today? Tell him all your troubles. He will listen and he will give you proper direction. He will advise you on this life’s journey.

    The Chew:

Sit and Receive Wise Counsel from the Wonderful Counselor.

    Jesus- The Storm Calmer

    The Bite

    Mark 4:39-40

39 And He got up and [sternly] rebuked the wind and said to the sea,“Hush, be still (muzzled)!” And the wind died down [as if it had grown weary] and there was [at once] a great calm [a perfect peacefulness].40 Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith and confidence [in Me]?”

Jesus and his disciples were in the boat to cross the lake, this fierce storm comes up filling the boat with water. Meanwhile, Jesus is knocked out sleep with head on a cushion. His disciples wake him up shouting, “Don’t you care that we about to drown”?

    The Digest:

    Our bite then states:

Jesus woke up. He rebuked the wind. SHUT IT down! with his voice. Silence! Be still! The Amplified Translation states Hush!

The winds obeyed his voice and were calm. (perfect peacefulness)

Jesus asked his Disciples: Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?

They didn’t even realize, they were with the Captain of the Sea, the Storm Calmer himself.

Ladies, Is there a storm in your life that you need Jesus to come and tell Hush! And Shut it Down?

How are you responding to the storm that comes into your life? Are you screaming at Jesus to save you? Have you failed to realize He has already done just that for you?

He is waiting to see what kind of faith you have! Will he have to ask the question? Do you still have NO Faith?

    The Chew:

There is no fear of the storms in our life when we can call on the Calmer of the Storm.

    Holy Spirit Be Boss

Who is the Boss over your mind? Where is your mind leading you? Death or Life and Peace. A dominated mind is controlled by the sinful nature. It thinks and does things sinful. Leads to death. A spirit controlled mind is controlled by the Holy Spirit. It thinks about things the please the spirit. Leads to life and peace. If your mind is dominated you can never please God. A spirit controlled mind that is controlled by the Spirit living in a person who has accepted Christ. Are you under the power of your old self telling you what to do? Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to tell you what to do?

    Watch Your Company

    The Bite

    1 Corinthians 15:33-34 (NLT)

Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”  Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.

Who do you spend most of your time with?

    file_000-3

In the verses before our bite, Paul is talking about living hour to hour or those who live like there is no resurrection.  But the resurrection is the only reason we have a tomorrow.

In this generation, we see people turning up and partying like it’s no tomorrow. The reality is: What if today was your last day, where will your tomorrow be spent? Which destination of eternity will you wake up to? Heaven or Hell?

    The Digest

Sister, Our bite states a couple of things: Don’t be fooled. Watch the company you keep. Thinking carefully and stop sinning.

      • Who is your life is fooling you or what are they fooling you to do?
      • Who are you hanging with the most? Are you a crowd follower or Christ follower?
      • What kind of company you keep?

    • Who or what do I need to remove from my life on my growth path to eternity?

If you chose to live it up now, where will you spend your eternal life? So watch who you hang around. They may laugh at you when you choose Jesus. When they see you changing into a better person, they just might want to chill with Jesus too.

    Welcome to GloriBites

Welcome to Gloribites! Thank you for stopping by to get a quick bite of the Word. This is a ministry that God placed on my heart earlier this summer. I wrestled back and forth with God about this blogging/podcast business. I really didn’t think I could do something of this nature. I am a stay at home wife, and homeschool mom of 4 children, ranging from 2 to 12 years of age. So now you see why I kept saying no and making excuses:) I questioned God about this journey, asking Him: What do you want me to talk about, and who was going to listen to me?

So as I was driving from a quick trip to the grocery store, I was alone, which never happens:) He spoke to clearly what I was going to study and share each day. So here is the daily line-up of my podcast:

    • Main Man Monday- Studying the character of Jesus
    • Topic Tuesday-Topics Relating to Women
    • Wisdom Wednesday- Wisdom from the Book of Proverbs
    • Thought Thursday- Scriptures Related to Thoughts
    • Faith Friday-Scriptures Relating to Faith
    • Salvation Saturday-Scriptures Related to Salvation

Ladies, only a God of Order could give me this amazing podcast line-up.  Pop on your headphones, grab a Bible and take a bite of His sweet Word with GloriBites.
