Sister, I wanted to talk just a few minutes this morning about the weekend. So Friday, was the Inauguration. We watched a transfer of “power”. Something struck me as I spent time on social media this weekend. I saw the social media generation moaning the leaving of a man. Obama is a man. We don’t put our trust in man. I saw the grieving of the coming of a new man. Trump is just a man. We put our hope in Christ.
Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
God uses man to make changes he needs to be made. The main bite for today is Daniel 2:21-22. Meditate on this verse. Let me break it down for you:
- HE controls this world
- HE removes presidents
- HE sets up presidents
- HE puts all in place.
Let’s talk about the transfer of power that we should be concerned about: The transfer of power at the cross. Jesus hung on the cross to lose his power temporarily to break the power of sin. The transfer of our sins to his body, so that we might live.
John 19:30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
As I was scrolling through my personal pages of social media, I saw an image of someone wearing all black as the “Inauguration outfit”. Almost as if the person, was attending a funeral.
Sister, are you grieving over that sin that is pulling you away from God? The sin that is hurting our Father. You are His daughter. It hurts him when you live a sinful life.
Sister, don’t make an idol of man in your life. Get your mind off the White House. Get your own house in order. I am speaking about your body (house) which is the temple of the Lord. Mourn the sin that hurts Him and turn. Respect the transfer of power from Jesus. Focus on the praying for all people in authority.
Focus on praying
1 Timothy 2:1-4
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
Remember this Jesus is not leaving the office of Heaven until He comes to get those who are His. You need to make sure you belong to Him.
If you have never received Jesus, and you are listening. Today is your day of salvation. Make a choice to repent and turn to a good, good Father. He is waiting patiently.
