Proverbs 12:1 NLT
To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.
Learn- to gain or acquire knowledge or skill by study, experience, or being taught.
At some point in your life, you have been taught something that you need to know.
God teaches us all we need to know. He also disciples (corrects) those He loves.
The bite states it is stupid to hate His correction! It is His gentle, loving correction that convicts and changes us in the first place.
I often struggle with being consistent with the discipline methods with my children, ages 12, 8, 6, and 2. As I studied this bite, I was convicted on the urgency of disciplining my children.
In this bite, the word Must- is defined as should, got, need to, something that should not be overlooked.
Although, I hate to spank. There are certain offenses that require spanking, in my opinion. But, I let them slide when mommy gets tired. Studying this scripture has made me realize that there is too much at stake. I have to teach my children, in order for the learn to love disciple.
Ladies, It is tough when our Father corrects us, but He does it because of His love.
