    Jesus Provides Courage

The Bite Matthew 14:22-33   The Digest Jesus has sent his disciples ahead of him in the boat. The boat is in the middle of the water. Jesus is spending time in prayer, alone. Later in the evening, Jesus comes walking on the water.  The disciples think Jesus is a ghost. They were terrified and cried in fear. How did His disciples not recognize Jesus after being with Him? Why were they so terrified? I think they, like so many of us, fail to realize that we have Jesus available with us at all times. There is no need to be fearful. Jesus tells them “It is I, take courage.…

    He Controls The World

The Bite   Sister, I wanted to talk just a few minutes this morning about the weekend.  So Friday,  was the Inauguration. We watched a transfer of “power”.  Something struck me as I spent time on social media this weekend.  I saw the social media generation moaning the leaving of a man.  Obama is a man.  We don’t put our trust in man. I saw the grieving of the coming of a new man. Trump is just a man.  We put our hope in Christ.   Psalm 42:5 Why am I discouraged?    Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God!  I will praise him…

    Focus on the Internal

The Bite 1 Samuel 16:7   But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. Learning to be Content

The Bite Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.  – (Philippians 4:11) So I have a confession to make on this bite, one of my struggles is being content. Something when you have everything you can imagine you can still experience not being content. I have been reading the whole Philippians book for the past couple of days. I’m learning a lot about Paul.  He is in prison, but so happy. Paul is not letting anything or anyone steal his joy. He is so joyful, even in his suffering. The Digest In own my life, I can’t say…

    Jesus Cries Out

The Bite   Mark 14:36 “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” The Digest Jesus is in Gethsemane, right before he is to be arrested and sentenced to death. In Mark 14:33-34, Jesus states that he is deeply distressed and troubled. He says His soul is overwhelmed with sorrow.   Sister, It may feel like you are at the end of your rope, or maybe even at your breaking point. We see Jesus has felt that same emotion. He prays to the Father. He calls him “Abba”. Sister,…

    #FaithlikeAbel

The Bite   It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.  Hebrews 11:4 NLT Abel offered God a better sacrifice than his brother Cain.   God commended Abel as righteous.   God spoke of Abel’s offerings to Him. Abel’s faith still speaks after his death.   The Digest We are to offer to God our best gifts (time, money, resources). He will see everything we do. God determines our…

Worship Him in Thoughts and Words

The Bite   Psalms 19:14 Lord, may these words of my mouth please you. And may these thoughts of my heart please you also. You are my Rock and my Redeemer.   Our words should be pleasing to the Lord. Also, our thoughts should pleasing to Him. He is our Rock and Redeemer.   Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.   The Digest Sister, are your words and thoughts…

The Bite   Proverbs 28:13 People who conceal their sins will not prosper,    but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.   The Digest   So, as we begin this new year, we normally make resolutions or goals. We often jot down some sort of goal in which we want to be successful. Being Half Obedient

The Bite:    1 Samuel 15:22 But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord:    your burnt offerings and sacrifices    or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice,    and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.   The Digest:   The Lord gave an order Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation—men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys.” 1 Samuel 15:3   Saul disobeys He captured Agag, the Amalekite king, but completely destroyed everyone else.  Saul and his men spared Agag’s life and kept the best of the sheep and goats, the cattle, the fat calves, and…

    Jesus Makes You New

The Bite 2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! As we enter into this new year, we all began to think of “new” things we want to do this year. We normally make some type of new year’s resolution.
