[00:00:00] Why try to trap the man who has all the answers?

[00:00:34] On today's episode, we see this common question answering scenes over and over of different

[00:00:50] groups trying to trap Jesus to say something so that they can find a way to get rid of him.

[00:00:58] He had all the right answers because he knew the word.

[00:01:02] When someone tries to trap you, accuse you.

[00:01:06] Do you have the answers?

[00:01:08] According to the scripture.

[00:01:12] Okay, jump in right into Luke chapter 20.

[00:01:16] Jesus was teaching and proclaiming the good news in the temple, teaching the law and the elders come to him asking him

[00:01:23] by which authority he was doing these things.

[00:01:27] We coming off the fact that he just went up in the temple and was like you make it.

[00:01:33] My house adenna robbers and so they want to know who gave him this authority.

[00:01:38] He is John's baptism from human origin or heaven.

[00:01:45] They discussed it amongst themselves and was like if we say heaven, he won't know why we didn't believe in him.

[00:01:51] If we say human they will stone us because they thought that John was a prophet.

[00:01:57] Jesus was like basically I am going to tell you by which I am doing these things either.

[00:02:03] So Jesus is turning on them which exposed their motives and avoided the trap that they were trying.

[00:02:10] He then tells a parable about a man who went to plant a vineyard rented it and went away for a long time.

[00:02:16] At the harvest he was expecting some fruit so he sends his servants, he sends three servants they all are beet and wounded.

[00:02:25] So he decides to send his son home he loves and perhaps they will respect him because he was there.

[00:02:32] They decide to kill him and take his inheritance but the owner will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.

[00:02:41] The owner of the vineyard is God and the vineyard is Israel.

[00:02:45] The tenants are the religious leaders and the servants were the prophets and the priests and the son was the Messiah Jesus

[00:02:53] and the others were the Gentiles.

[00:02:56] The stone that the builders reject has become the cornerstone.

[00:03:00] Jesus was the stone and the cornerstone and they rejected the cornerstone.

[00:03:05] You cannot build a house or any kind of building without a cornerstone.

[00:03:11] So when you try to build your life apart from Jesus you are going to fall.

[00:03:16] When you reject the Messiah you are going to face eternal condemnation.

[00:03:23] So he goes on to say this was prophesied in Psalms 118 verse 22 and everyone who falls on that will be broken to pieces.

[00:03:36] Being broken is normal but in our sense we think something is broken that is normally not good.

[00:03:44] It is not useful but God uses our brokenness because He offers us the choice.

[00:03:48] Basically you can be broke or you can get broke.

[00:03:52] Breaking our pride, our self-centeredness, our heart hearts but it is not pleasant but it is necessary.

[00:03:59] If it falls on you then you will be crushed but if you are broken in His way then you will be delivered.

[00:04:06] They knew that Jesus was talking about them but they were afraid of the people so they tried another way.

[00:04:12] They sent some spies to ask him more questions and I love this verse.

[00:04:17] We know that you speak and teach what is right, you do not show partiality and the way you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.

[00:04:26] This is like a check box for who you should be listening to teaching you.

[00:04:30] Making sure they speak and teach what is right, making sure they are following the way of God and living in accordance with the truth of the Word.

[00:04:37] So they was like is it right to pay taxes to Caesar?

[00:04:41] And Jesus was like give to Caesar was Caesar and give to God was God's.

[00:04:45] So they were unable to trap Him and they was astonished so they became quiet.

[00:04:51] So then you got the Sadducees one of the ways that we used to learn in VBS and stuff is the Sadducees was Sadducees.

[00:04:59] So they thought there was no resurrection so they came to Jesus with a question and was like if a man died his brother is to carry out his legacy,

[00:05:08] yet it was seven brothers and they married all these seven women and they all died without having children.

[00:05:14] Who is she going to be married to at the resurrection?

[00:05:18] Because they only believe in Genesis through Deuteronomy, they did not believe in the resurrection of the dead because there was no mention of the resurrection in these books.

[00:05:26] And Jesus replies that you know basically in this age people are getting married and being given into marriage.

[00:05:33] So he was answering their question about marriage and the resurrection because he said those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come in the resurrection will not be given into marriage.

[00:05:45] These are those who have placed their faith in Christ.

[00:05:49] And so at the resurrection human life as we know it will be forever changed.

[00:05:54] We were no longer die. The word says they would be like angels, they are God's children and they are children of the resurrection.

[00:06:00] He references the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob and that God is not the God of the dead but of the living for to him all are alive.

[00:06:12] And they basically was like mic drop teacher you have spoken well and it didn't ask him anything else.

[00:06:18] So Jesus asked them you know why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David because David declared that Lord said to my lord which is representing God and the Messiah sit at my right hand so I make your enemies a footstool.

[00:06:35] And David calls him Lord how can I be his son?

[00:06:40] He must believe Jesus to be who he says he is. He is both the son of God and he also is the son of man.

[00:06:50] David knew that he was both and so this is references in this scripture and all the people were listening and Jesus said to his disciples beware of the teachers of law they walk around with their robes like to be greeted, sitting in places of honor in these important seats but it is viral with us.

[00:07:08] And they are taking advantage of widows and showing off with all these lengthy prayers.

[00:07:12] Doing all the religious deeds does not cancel seeing they had this appearance of holiness but they were arrogant they were heart hearted self-centered and uncaring.

[00:07:23] And he ended it by saying that these people were severely punished.

[00:07:26] So this was encouraging to remember that you must know your words of combat when people ask you questions you have to make sure that you know that you know you have the truth and you stand on the authority of truth so that you can answer and shut the mouths of people who deny the truth that you are to live by.
