[00:00:00] Without the resurrection, then our faith is in vain.
[00:00:07] I'm Alnesha, the host of this show, GloriBites.
[00:00:21] GloriBites is a short podcast that encouraged women to taste and see that the lore is good,
[00:00:27] and blessed are you as you take refuge in him.
[00:00:34] Hey guys, so we are on the last chapter of Luke 24 and recording this a few days late,
[00:00:52] just because I just needed to enjoy my family and celebrate our risen King on Resurrection Sunday.
[00:01:02] I hope that you had a blessed time in the lore and that you were able to fellowship with like-minded believers.
[00:01:10] So, for today we will continue our final episode for Luke 24.
[00:01:18] Let's jump right in.
[00:01:22] So we just celebrated Resurrection Sunday and in today's reading,
[00:01:27] we saw that early in the morning, the women who was preparing the spices in the last episode
[00:01:34] goes to the tomb and finds that there is nobody to be found.
[00:01:41] And they were perplexed about this and some angels appeared to them, asking them,
[00:01:48] why are you looking for the living among the dead?
[00:01:52] He is not here but he has risen.
[00:01:55] He calls them to remembrance.
[00:01:57] Remember what he spoke to you that when he was still in Galilee,
[00:02:01] he said it was going to be necessary for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men
[00:02:06] to be crucified and raised on the third day.
[00:02:10] They went on to tell the other 11 and all the rest,
[00:02:17] and it was Mary Madeline Joanna and Mary the mother of James and other women who were telling her
[00:02:23] apostles these things and they thought it was nonsense.
[00:02:26] So Peter gets up and he goes and he runs to the tomb to go see for himself
[00:02:30] and he sees exactly what they have saw and he is amazed about what has happened.
[00:02:38] I like how it, excuse me, like how it was mentioned that he saw only the linen cloth.
[00:02:46] The next portion is the Amazes Disciples.
[00:02:50] So they were walking on this road seven miles from Jerusalem so they go on the opposite direction
[00:02:58] and they are arguing and discussing what has taken place.
[00:03:02] And Jesus comes in their space and begins to conversation with them and they don't even recognize that it's him.
[00:03:14] So it's because they were being prevented from knowing that it was Jesus
[00:03:21] and he is like what is this dispute y'all got going on?
[00:03:24] And they began to look at him like he crazy like will you been there the last few days have been crazy around here.
[00:03:32] And he played crazy and he said what things and it was like talking about Jesus to Jesus.
[00:03:38] They said you know Jesus is a Nazareth, the powerful prophet in action and speech.
[00:03:45] He was sensitive, crucified and this is the thing they said but we were hoping that he was the one to redeem Israel again.
[00:03:56] They still did not see.
[00:03:58] They was looking for some kind of political king.
[00:04:00] They was not looking for someone who was going to heal them and take away their sins.
[00:04:08] They were still looking at the political aspect.
[00:04:10] They talked about going to the tomb and there was nobody there.
[00:04:13] And he began to tell them how foolish and how slow you are to believe all that the prophets have spoken.
[00:04:21] Wasn't it necessary for the Messiah to suffer all these names to enter in his glory?
[00:04:29] And so he said beginning with Moses in the prophet he interpret for them the things concerning himself in the scripture.
[00:04:37] So Jesus is telling them about himself right as they walk.
[00:04:41] And so as they come to this village he gave them the impression that he was going to go a little further but they said stay you know it's getting late.
[00:04:47] So he stays with them and reclines at the table with them.
[00:04:55] And so he took the bread, he blessed and broke it and gave it to them.
[00:05:02] It was them that their eyes were open because they had not seen yet.
[00:05:08] But when he broke the bread, they saw his nails scored hands.
[00:05:15] And so in seeing that they were able to have their eyes open and then he had disappeared from their sight.
[00:05:22] I love love love verse 32.
[00:05:24] I have another episode on this.
[00:05:26] I can't remember what it's called y'all because these I'm up to like over 200 something episodes.
[00:05:31] But it says like working our hearts burning with the end as when he was talking with us along the road and explaining the scriptures to us.
[00:05:39] And so they had this blessed time with Jesus and it was just a sweet time even though he corrected them.
[00:05:50] You know y'all don't be slow to believe like it's you got you can't find out this means so they got up and they went back and sold the 11.
[00:05:59] So they changed their direction so after meeting with Jesus, after we meet with Jesus there's a new direction in our life.
[00:06:06] Second Corinthians 517 says the old has gone and the new has come.
[00:06:09] So they was initially walking the opposite way now they turn in bad towards Jerusalem to go tell all these things.
[00:06:18] And so remember Jesus I already like disappeared from them but then it says he was standing there and their miss is there telling this.
[00:06:28] And then they got he said peace be to you and then they will all start to enterify and they thought that they saw a ghost and he asked them why are you trouble?
[00:06:38] Why do you why do doubts arise in your heart look at my hands and my feet it is myself a ghost does not have flesh and blood.
[00:06:47] So he shows them his hands and his feet and they were amazed but still in disbelief so to further prove then you have Jesus okay we're going to give you something to eat.
[00:06:57] And so they got a game a piece of boy efficient he took it and he ended their presence and said these words I spoke to you while I was still with you everything about me in the Old Testament the Lord the Prophet of Moses songs all that must be fulfilled.
[00:07:12] Then he opened their minds to understand scriptures that the Messiah was suffering raised on the third day so that the repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name beginning with Jerusalem and he's like you are a witness to all of these things.
[00:07:30] And so he said I'm sending you what the what the father has promised and what did he promise he promised us the Holy Spirit so he led them up to Bethany like two miles up he lives up his hands he blessed them and as he's blessing them he is lifted up and carried into heaven enough after seeing this they worship and they return to Jerusalem with great joy.
[00:07:52] Christianity is the only faith that has a risen savior there is no other faith and nothing that is why we get so beat up on persecuting because it's a real faith it's a real savior who has risen and broke the chains off of death.
[00:08:20] Death has no victory it has no stain none of it and so that's what makes our faith so much greater than the others.
[00:08:31] The sufferings of Jesus had to happen so that we can have salvation in Jesus when we argue as it was arguing around the role of things that happened when we argue about things that pertain to Jesus we miss opportunities and we miss him.
[00:08:47] We must all agree on one thing and that is the infallible word of God the scriptures that should be our standard in any disagreement with our brothers or sisters in Christ or anyone that is the standard only when Jesus has been revealed to us will he be real to us.
[00:09:08] Jesus offers us peace and when trouble and doubt arise in our heart we must remember to look back at his nail scar hands and feet as we read these scriptures we need to ask Jesus to open our mind to understand the scriptures just like he did for them.
[00:09:24] We are to proclaim his death his resurrection and the necessity for repentance for the forgiveness of sins through Christ Jesus.
[00:09:34] We are to seek and ask the Holy Spirit to be our helper in our teacher and lead us in all truth because our risen Savior have left us with his Holy Spirit.
[00:09:45] He says in John 167 but I tell you the truth it is to your advantage that I go away for if I do not go away the helper the Holy Spirit the comforter the advocate is intercessor the counselor the strengthener.
[00:10:02] We will not come to you but if I go I will send him the Holy Spirit to you to be in close fellowship with you.
[00:10:11] So the truth for today is because he lives we can face tomorrow.
