Taste and See Challenge Day 24 Romans 5:12-21

The actions of one person affect many...

There is a comparison in the Scriptures that shows you what Adam's sin vs Christ's righteousness did for us. Today we will look at Romans 5:12-21

Adam Sin brought Death into the world
  •  When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.

  • For the sin of this one man, Adam brought death to many.

  • Adam’s sin brought condemnation

  • Cause sin to rule over many

Christ's Death Brought Life into the World
  • Jesus brought the gift of forgiveness to many

  • God’s free leads to righteousness even though we are guilty

  • The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to be king over all, but all who will take God’s gift of forgiveness and acquittal are kings of life[d] because of this one man, Jesus Christ. V17 TLB

  • Christ’s righteousness to those who receive it will triumph over sin and death

through Jesus

Adams one sin vs Jesus one act
  • Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19

One person disobeyed vs One person Obeyed

  • Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

God’s law shows our sin and his grace

God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.

Sin used to rule but now grace rules
  • So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death,

  •  now God’s wonderful grace rules instead,

  • giving us the right standing with God

  • resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Digest

  • Sin came into the world through Adam’s sin and every time we sin we identify with Adam

  • We all came from the Adam family line of sin, guilt, and punishment but we can trade family lines and be born again into Christ's family where there is righteousness, forgiveness, and eternal life

Everyone is either in Adam or in Christ. If we do nothing we stay in Adam’s family and die. If we come to God through Jesus we live which family do you belong to?

The Chew

Sin can’t overpower grace.
